Workshops for Students and Teachers at Panevezys V. Zemkalnis High School
03/13/2020

Last week the Kazickas Family Foundation brought self-presentation training to Panevezys Vytautas Zemkalnis High School students and teachers. Such skill is necessary when reaching for academic and career success.

Considering flawless self-presentation could be a deal breaker applying for college or a job, it is crucial to know how to effectively highlight your skills, talents and accomplishments not just during the meeting, but also in a motivational letter. High school students were given valuable tips during the workshop and encouraged to apply their knowledge and understanding in practice.

Later on school's teachers were invited to the workshops presenting some unconventional ways to inspire their students and motivate them to challenge themselves academically. Teachers received valuable tips how to write effective and compelling letters of recommendation for their students.

We thank Panevezys Vytautas Zemkalnis High School community for continuous learning and growing.

Alexandra Kalvenaite - Kazickas (1920-2011) is a 1937 Vytautas Zemkalnis High School graduate. After she and her family were forced to leave Lithuania during the WWII, A. Kazickas kept visiting the school throughout the years and maintained close friendship. It was her initiative to set up a cozy library in school’s attic in 2001 which now is one of the most visited areas of the building. Alexandra Kalvenaite – Kazickas also established and funded a literacy award in memory of her dear teacher linguist Petras Butenas in 2002. Today, the Kazickas Family Foundation continues to foster the spirit of friendship with Panevezys Vytautas Zemkalnis High School and entire town community. The Kazickas Family Foundation established special awards in memory of Alexandra Kazickas for Vytautas Zemkalnis High School students and teachers to encourage students‘ consciousness, develop skills to raise personal goals, pursue and evaluate them, learn to present self and the accomplishments to the public. In addition, contest introduces students to Alexandra Kalvenaite – Kazickas‘ life and her family history, life experiences, values and family‘s continuous work for Lithuania. These awards not just celebrate students‘ and teachers‘ achievements, but also empower the recipients to take responsibility for the future of their school, town and Lithuania.
