Last Saturday Gediminas Lithuanian School turned 16! Schools students and parents celebrated it with a quiz competition "100 Years - 100 Facts." School's students proved to their parents that they attend school for a reason and proudly shared their knowledge about Lithuania.
ASSIST, program that creates life-changing opportunities for outstanding international scholars to learn from and contribute to the finest American independent schools is turning 50! Program's founders, patrons, board members, supporters, alumni, current students and guests gathered in Washington, DC to celebrate 50 years of building bridges.
About 10 years ago, KFF made a grant to the University of Washington Baltic Studies department. That gift has now resulted in an endowed professorship that has made it possible for the UW to establish a permanent faculty position devoted to research and teaching about Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. On Tuesday, October 9th, “The Life of Joseph Peter Kazickas” exhibit opened at the Gabriele Petkevicaite-Bite library in Panevezys. This exhibit continues to travel through Lithuania together with a written legacy – J. P. Kazickas’ letters written to his beloved wife Alexandra between 1943 and 2009.
Everyone is invited to the exhibition, dedicated to the philanthropist, patriot, entrepreneur, Honorary Doctor and a long-time sponsor of KTU – dr. Juozas Kazickas on his 100th anniversary. The exhibition opens October 4th, 12.30 p.m. at KTU Santaka Valley in the 228th hall.
During the Kazickas Family Foundation September 19th meeting it was decided to continue the Alexandra Kazickas Grant Program for the seventh year in a row. Alexandra Kazickas was deeply committed to the preservation of a Lithuanian identity for young people growing up in the US.
