On June 16th, Jurate Kazickas participated at the discussion on Human Trafficking/Modern Slavery with Ambassador Zygimantas Pavilionis, Member of LT Parliament Irena Degutiene, Judge Aurelijus Gutauskas, Father Algirdas Toliatas, Policeman from UK Aivaras Krochalev, Vytautas Landsbergis and others at the CLub Res Publica in Vilnius.
It's been five years since the world lost beloved Alexandra Kazickas on her 91st birthday, June 17th, 2011. Many people remember her as the most spirited, joyful and dedicated friend, while family members kindly share some of the most treasured memories of Mamyte.
On June 13, 2016 the President of the Kazickas Family Foundation Jurate Kazickas visited A. Damusis Democracy Studies Center at Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius. Invited by the founder of the center ambassador Ginte Damusis, J. Kazickas met with Mykolas Romeris University Rector prof. Algirdas Monkevicius and MRU Senate President prof. Gintaras Aleknonis.
June 8th, annual ASSIST fellow alumni and friends gathered at the beautiful and historic Colony Club in New York City to make new friendships, renew old ones and to learn about the State of ASSIST. To date, 4,820 students from 51 countries have become ASSIST Scholars. They have returned to their homes to become leaders in their own countries, appreciative of their experience, and holding a deep understanding of American values and culture.
“It wasn't until I read Geronimo Pratt's book a few years back that I was really awakened to the horror, and reality, of wasting away in jail for a crime never committed. Recently I've watched the Making a Murderer documentary and again been reminded of this awful possibility,” shares Peter in his letter to the Center.
June 18-19th, Trakai History Museum is inviting everyone to the Medieval Festival. Those who like to dance, can learn some Medieval dance steps, others might try some Medieval games, while children might have fun walking on stilts, experiencing being a medieval knight or making a clay pot. Everyone can participate in the reženactment of the castle take over, watch various concerts, fire show and participate in many more Medieval activities.

For the first time the bell music will sound at Pazaislis music festival. Four carillon music concerts "The Sounding Stories of the Bells," initiated by the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Lithuania Bert Van Der Lingen and sponsored by Kazickas Family Foundation and the Netherlands Embassy in Vilnius, will take place in three major cities across Lithuania.
Eighty nine students from twelve Lithuanian schools and few young people, not attending such school but wishing to test their language proficiency, took A1-A2-B1 language proficiency/level test for juniors (born in 2002 and older) in seven different testing centers across the US.
Last weekend Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School (Long Island, NY) finished its 10th school year already. School, supported by Kazickas Family Foundation, had 16 graduates since 2006. Rasa Mitruleviciene from Eastern Long Island Lithuanian Community congratulated this year's graduate Smilte and all school's students.
Education was always a priority to Dr. Joseph and his wife Alexandra Kazickas. Their grandaughter, Sophie Kazickas, an entrepreneur and app Meilė co-founder, dedicates her time to conscious consumerism issue and shares her family values by helping to make education available to all. Indigenous Education Foundation of Tanzania is close to her heart and is her Philanthropy choice.
