MO Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania opened a new exhibition - outdoor projection “The Future of Belarus, Fueled by Women”. The goal of this exhibition - to show support for Belarusians fighting for freedom by displaying the protest photographs shining on the wall of the MO building.
The Kazickas Family Foundation together with the Lithuanian Language Association is inviting the qualifying individuals to submit their applications for the Literacy Award in Memory of the linguist P. Butenas and his student A. Kazickas.
"Caritas" Day Center ATEIK is a place for the individuals experiencing homelessness in Kaunas, Lithuania. Among many services, it helps people to integrate back into society and develop their social as well as professional skills. Everyone at the Kazickas Family Foundation is glad to be able to contribute to center's important work while breaking outdated stereotypes and showing how to share tolerance, inclusion and kindness.
As Lithuania celebrates its Independence on February 16th, it makes us reflect on its tumultuous history and analyze the events and consequences. After the 18th century under the Russian Empire and WWI turmoil, Lithuanian Independence declared in 1918 turned out to be only temporary, as Lithuania was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1940. However, its citizens across the globe never lost hope to get it back some day.
"Bring Together Lithuania" 2021 summer internship program, initiated and sponsored by the Kazickas Family Foundation, invites students and recent graduates (ages 18-25) of Lithuanian descent to gain professional experience and rediscover modern Lithuania. Registration is open till March 1, 2021.
At the beginning of each year, MO Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania invites its patrons to the annual reception. This year, when entire world functions under such unique circumstances, MO invited the patrons to join them on January 27th virtually. Jurate Kazickas took this special opportunity and participated from thousands of miles away. The Kazickas Family Foundation contributes to the educational workshops MO Museum offers to underprivileged youth.
On January 25th, when Vilnius celebrated its 698th birthday, ten individuals received the St. Christopher award for their contributions to the town. One of the recipients was a dear friend of the Kazickas Family Foundation, Renata Marcinkute Lesieur. The well known organ player was awarded for her humanitarian work to bring sacred music to broad and diverse audience in Lithuania.
The Kazickas Family Foundation sadly notes the passing of a member of the extended Kazickas family: Romualdas "Ray" Kestutis Gruodis who passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the age of 87. Jurate Kazickas shares kind words remembering her cousin Ray:
The Kazickas Family Foundation started year 2021 with new hopes and exciting news that it granted $116,805 to support 26 Lithuanian Heritage schools in the US. The Alexandra Kazickas Grant Program (AKGP) was started in 2012 in memory of beloved Alexandra Kazickas (1920-2011) who was deeply committed to the preservation of a Lithuanian identity for young people growing up in the US.
During the year of the unknown, ASSIST, connecting America’s finest schools with the world’s leading scholars, managed to continue its mission with some adjustments. Every year among the scholars from 52 countries, Lithuania is represented by six high school students who get a chance to spend their junior year at the American boarding schools. The Kazickas Family Foundation proudly sponsors tree of them.
