On behalf of everyone at the Kazickas Family Foundation we'd like to congratulate two very special individuals who have been working with the foundation for many years - Sister Igne Marijošius and prof. Guntis Šmidchens! On Lithuania's Restoration Day, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda thanked 34 individuals for their dedicated work for Lithuania and honored them with a special merit award. Among all the extraordinary recipients, were Sister Igne Marijošius and prof. Guntis Šmidchens.
As we celebrate Independence Day, February 16, 2020 and the start of the jubilee year of Alexandra Kazickas (6/17/1920-6/17/2011) our family matriarch, we would like to share her sentiments about her love of Lietuva, the country of her birth that was brutally taken away. She was a woman of strong character who kept her faith despite the uncertainty of life in those war-torn years.
"Youth Can" program, ran by the Kazickas Family Foundation, encouraged the participants in all 16 small towns to organize the winter runs for their local communities. Local Lithuanian magazine "Žmonės" chats with "Youth Can" manager Arminas Vareika about the idea, the goals and effect of such events on youth and their communities.
It has become an annual tradition for Jurate and John Kazickas to spend few very busy January days in Lithuania. However, this time their trip was really special, because Jurate's husband Roger Altman joined them as well.
This week Dr. Joseph P. Kazickas Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Yale was introduced to PhD students at Vilnius University Institute of International Relations and Political Science.
For the 52nd year ASSIST program invited high school students from all over the world to apply for an opportunity to gain life-changing experience and spend their junior year at the American Boarding Schools. Every year among close to 200 selected students, 6 come from Lithuania. The Kazickas Family Foundation has been sponsoring 3 students each year since 2004.
Roger Altman was invited to Lithuania by his wife Jurate Kazickas. During his visit, Mr. Altman met with IQ magazine, covering the latest business, culture and sports trends in Lithuania and across the globe, news reporter Gytis Kapsevicius to discuss US politics and economy.
During their trips to Lithuania, the Kazickas family members find time to visit KFF's dedicated partners to express their gratitude for all the work they do. During their latest trip in January, Jurate and John Kazickas visited few organizations that contribute to 'Youth Can" program, ran by KFF.
During their trip to Lithuania in January, Jurate Kazickas, her husband Roger Altman and brother John Kazickas were invited to MO Museum for a tour and a discussion. Museum‘s founders Viktoras and Danguole Butkus and Marius Jakulis Jason Foundation founder Marius Jakulis Jason and his family chatted with the guests about the philanthropy path in Lithuania.
During their trip to Lithuania, Jurate Kazickas and her brother John Kazickas invited Kaunas University of Technology representatives that coordinate Dr. Joseph P. Kazickas programming and IT application contests for schoolchildren in Lithuania to their family residence in Vilnius.
